All aboard at 7PM tomorrow in Wellsville as author Steve Cotton provides a narrated journey along the New York and Pennsylvania (NYP) Railway.
The David A. Howe Public Library and the Allegany County Historical Society will host the free event in the library’s auditorium at 155 North Main Street.
Attendees will receive a guided tour through the author’s book about the early history of the NYP and will travel the line in the same order as being on a passenger train.
Leaving the Erie Junction at Canisteo, attendees will travel down Bennetts Creek through the towns of Greenwood and West Union (Rexville) before passing the marsh into Whitesville. From there travelers will cross the Pennsylvania border along Cryder Creek to Genesee and, then, along the west branch of the Genesee River to Oswayo where it scoots along the Oswayo Valley into Shinglehouse and back across the border to Ceres, NY.
Each chapter of the book finds images and the history of each stop, with a chapter on equipment and images of various steam locomotives.
