Army Concert Band to perform this weekend at Houghton University

Fresh from a performance tonight by the Lviv National Philharmonic Orchestra of Ukraine, Houghton University will host the 198th Army Concert Band, based in Rochester, in public concert Saturday night.

Part of the 2022-23 University Artist Series, the marching band, rock band, concert band, brass and woodwind quintets, all rolled into one, will perform from 7:30PM to 9PM, February 4, in the Wesley Chapel at 1 Willard Avenue.

The band consists of part-time professional musicians, who during the day include school music teachers, business owners, and college students, perform at other times with the military unit, providing music at a variety of public and military events, both in Upstate New York and throughout the country.

The concert is free, with donations accepted.

Tonight’s Ukrainian concert, conducted by Houghton adjunct professor Theodore Kuchar, is part of this week’s otherwise free Kindschi Faith and Justice Symposium, focused on War and Conflict: Creating Sanctuaries in Times of Violence.

It is being held from from 7:30PM to 9:30PM tonight, also in the Wesley Chapel. Further information and tickets are available at https://bit.ly/3WChmDu.
