Art shows and other activities to highlight some school budget votes Tuesday

Several Allegany County school districts will be combining student art shows, STEAM exhibits, book and wellness fairs, and even an ice cream social with Tuesday votes on their annual operating budgets and school board members.

Allegany Hope will be among community resources organizations at a combination art, STEAM and wellness fair from 6PM-8PM May 16 at the Fillmore Central School, providing signups for our free home and business online video libraries, which include wholesome cartoons for children during the summer and other times of the year, along with our many other initiatives for Building Healthy Communities Through Healthy Families.

The public event will be held from 6PM to 8PM at the school at 104 West Main Street.

In addition to the STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) exhibits and wellness fair of community resources, opportunities will include third-through-12th grade art exhibits, hands-on art activities, a Glow Gallery, petting zoo, giant bubble, kids roller skating, reading program information to include receipt of book donations, and hot dogs and refreshments.

At Belfast Central School, a senior students art show will be held from 5PM to 6PM in the school auditorium at 1 King Street, with food and refreshments being provided.

A student art show also will be hosted by the Scio Central School District from noon to 8PM in the Rigby Gym at 3968 Washington Street, with works by pre-K through 12th grade students.

An art show, musical performances, book and science fairs, and an ice cream social will be underway from 6PM to 8PM at the Alfred-Almond Central School at 6795 State Route 21, Almond, with activities in various parts of district facilities.

School budget votes and election of school board members will be held at various times Tuesday in all Allegany County school districts, with notices on websites or Facebook pages, or by contacting school district offices.
