Back to school picnics, such as this one at Friendship Central School this afternoon, are providing opportunities for children and parents to greet their new teachers and connect with each other.
Music, face painting, ice pops from the principal, and a picnic lunch were enjoyed by dozens at the school, prior to the start of a new year Thursday.
Some schools started classes Tuesday while others scheduled superintendent days after the Labor Day Weekend and will begin tomorrow.
