An ENCORE! outreach at Houghton University for area senior citizens, which primarily had been sidelined during the pandemic, is moving back on track.
An introduction gathering for current and potential members will be held from 10AM to noon next Wednesday, September 14, at the the Kerr-Pegula Athletic Complex Field House at 9897 State Route 19, on the university campus.
The kick-off event will include greetings from Houghton President Wayne Lewis, refreshments, demonstrations, and sign-ups for various activities which include opportunities for socialization, learning, recreation, the arts and more.
There is a one-time fee of $15 and some individual activities may have additional costs.
Current opportunities, held at both the university and Houghton Wesleyan Church, across from the campus, include senior exercise, needlecrafts, Wednesday morning social hours with half-price coffee shop offerings, table games, and a music circle.
ENCORE! members also can receive a weekly email of campus activities which often are free.
