10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

A free elder scam and fraud prevention clinic will be held from 10AM to noon, Thursday, July 14, at the Belmont Legion, 29 Schuyler Street (State Route 19), Belmont.

The session, hosted by the Allegany County Office for the Aging, Sheriff’s Department, Center for Elder Law and Justice, First Citizen’s Bank of Wellsville and State Senator George Borrello, will discuss common scams and the strategies seniors can use to protect themselves from various types of identity theft, credit card fraud, financial scams and other types of fraud.

Information also will be provided on the steps to take if one’s identity has been stolen, with attendees then having the opportunity to meet with a representative of the Center for Elder Law and Justice, who will be able to assist seniors who may have been victims of fraud by pulling a credit report, answering questions or submitting claims to the Federal Trade Commission.
