Father’s Day Weekend of many family activities before next week’s heat wave

A solid weekend of free Father’s Day activities begins this afternoon for Allegany County area residents before the summer’s first major heat wave hits the area early next week.

Cuba Dairy Days, featuring a community-wide yard sale, downtown music, crafts, a car show, free carnival, petting zoo, parade and more starts at 4PM today and continues through Sunday.

Another car-related event, the Sixth Annual Field of Dreams Car Cruise and Show will begin with the car cruise from Lower Street in Rushford to the Legion Park at 9088 West Branch Road.

It will be followed by the car show which starts at noon.

More weekend events include:

— The weekly Angelica Farmer’s Market, held from 10AM to 2PM Saturdays at Park Circle, will feature the Ukuladies from 11AM to 1PM.

Amy Powers and Jami Snyder, a duo of Allegany County teachers who acquired ukuleles and found they enjoyed playing together, will perform.

— A host of activities, including those for kids and dads, a free community meal and a family movie will be held at the David A. Howe Public Library at 155 North Main Street in Wellsville, including:

10AM-2PM: A weekly Farmers Market on the facility’s front lawn.

10:30AM-11:30AM: A Father’s Day Storytime will feature kids bringing their dads, grandpas, uncles or important men in your life to enjoy a special story for them, along with a craft and snack.

11AM-Noon: Tech help will be available for those struggling with computer, cell phone or other electronic device issues, by appointment at (585) 593-3410.

Noon-1PM: A graduation party for this year’s fifth grade class, the Class of 2031, will include pizza, ice cream, games and gifts.

Noon-1PM: The monthly Community Meal, hosted in June by Gamma Pi Sorority, with a food donation from the Modern Diner, will feature sloppy joes, macaroni salad, corn, potato chips and ice cream.

1PM-3:30PM: A PG movie, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, will be screened.

The current Saturday and Sunday weather forecast is for sunny skies, with temperatures in the 70s.

This will change, starting Monday, with temperatures moving higher and being forecast to reach near 100 heat indexes on at least Tuesday and Wednesday, with high humidity and warm temperatures during nighttime hours.
