BREAKING: A Limited Fire Weather Risk exists Thursday for parts of Allegany County, with residents throughout the region encouraged to prepare for high heat and humidity next week, expected to achieve a heat index of close to 100 degrees in the central part of the county by Tuesday.

In Steuben County east, anticipated thunderstorms Friday may become more severe than in Allegany, according to the National Weather Service (NWS), with strong winds and hail being the main threat.

To the south in bordering Pennsylvania counties, higher daytime heat and warm nights are expected to begin Monday.
