EARLY ALERT #2: Friday’s chances for heavy rain and potential flooding have increased for Allegany County, NY, and the entire Western and Central New York area and south into Pennsylvania.

The National Hurricane Center, which is tracking now-Tropical Storm Nicole as it moves over Florida this afternoon and then is forecast to turn to the north, is alerting in combination with other National Weather Service (NWS) entities that two-to-four inches of rain, along with potential for flash flooding is growing as the storm is projected to move north in a large mass.

Current maps showing the amount of rain on the left and potential flood area accompanies this story.

Warm weather is forecast to continue through Friday, when the heavy rain begins to arrive late in the afternoon, with cooler weather Saturday, followed by potential for snow showers to arrive Saturday night and continue into the first part of next week.
