Free Fishing Day in New York State is this Saturday

Anyone can fish the fresh waters of New York State without a license Saturday during the next to last Free Fishing Day for the year.

All other freshwater fishing regulations will continue to apply, according to the State Department of Environmental Conservation, which encourages adults, children and families to give fishing a try on September 24.

Several Allegany County libraries also offer fishing poles for free use.

Further information, including places to fish, is available at https://on.ny.gov/3rUzBYI.

The final Free Fishing Day for the year will be on Veterans Day, Friday, November 11.
