The public and local government officials can learn about recent changes to the New York Open Meetings Law (OML) next week during on online workshop conducted by the state Committee on Open Government (COOG).
Kristin O’Neill, COOG assistant director, will conduct the 10AM to 11:40AM Thursday, July 21, session, with registration required at https://bit.ly/3aAL7mj to obtain the link.
Up to 500 participants can attend statewide, with the hour-long presentation being followed by participant questions.
For those unable to attend the session, slides and prior webinar videos on both the Open Meetings and Freedom of Information laws are available online at https://on.ny.gov/3RwehDz.
As we have reported previously, many local governments violate both laws, either intentionally or unintentionally, with the state workshops designed to inform both the public and their officials as to legal requirements under citizen Right to Know laws.
