Free summer meals sites open for children tomorrow

Several Allegany County sites will open for summer meals and snacks tomorrow for children 18 years of age and younger.

Food is being provided through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Sun Meals initiative and may include breakfasts and lunches, although meals can vary, depending on the site, including hours of operation, days of the week, and whether food is provided for on-site or off-site consumption.

The length of time of the services also can differ, with some coinciding with school summer activities for students. Sites can include schools, libraries, youth and community centers, and other locations.

A searchable map of sites is available at, although it may be incomplete and subject to updating, particularly in those areas in which the initiative hasn’t yet started.
