Friendship and Wellsville area churches invite the public to community gatherings

A Friendship Community Picnic this Sunday, with a worship service and dish-to-pass dinner in Wellsville the following weekend, are being hosted by area churches for their communities, with an ice cream social also on the schedule.

The five Friendship churches, part of a new What God is Doing in Friendship ny initiative, will bring together community residents, starting at 12:30PM, August 6, at Island Park, 29 West Water Street.

The churches, the First United Methodist, Followers of the Way – Nile Community, Friendship Bible Baptist, Friendship Church of God in Christ, and the United Church of Friendship, are hosting the event and will be providing the meat, beverages and table service, with attendees who are able encouraged to bring a dish-to-pass.

A bounce house, music, games, and conversation also are part of the free menu.

Sunday, August 13, Activities
At 2PM the following Sunday, August 13, the Nile Church will be sponsoring a free public ice cream social at its facility at 4095 State Route 275, Friendship, with live music by Michael Scott Smith, root beer floats and other ice cream treats, games, and more.

This will be followed at 5PM by a dish-to-pass dinner at Island Park in Wellsville, hosted by the Mission Genesee Coalition of churches, other Christian organizations, and individuals in Allegany County and Upper Potter County, Pa., and the Wellsville Area Ministerial Association (WAMA).

Following the dinner, a 6PM Community Worship Service of music and more will be held at the West Dyke Street facility.
