Friendship church to host clothing giveaway, Colombia missions luncheon

A Friendship church will be hosting both a clothing giveaway and a free Colombia missions luncheon for next week.

The United Church of Friendship has scheduled a gently-used clothing giveaway from 10AM to 6PM Thursday, May 9; 10AM to 4PM Friday, May 10; and 10AM to 2PM Saturday, May 11.

Donated clothing also is being accepted by dropping it off in plastic bags at the St. Pauly clothing box, located in the back of the church parking lot at 31 East Main Street, day or night.

Additional information is available at Grammakirch@gmail.com or (585) 610-3441.

The church also hosts a 24/7 Blessings Box which contains food and small household items for pickup by those in need, along with accepting donations.

It is located at the top of the handicapped ramp at the parking lot entrance of the church.

On Wednesday, May 8, the church will host a free noon community missions luncheon at The Carter House, 37 East Main Street.

The second Monday of the month gathering will feature Matthew (Mateo) Hess, who will discuss how a Christian school, which was started over 30 years ago by his father-in-law pastor in Colombia, with only 34 pupils, ministers in an impoverished area of Bogota.

Hess, a former Rochester school teacher who now assists his wife, Lety in leading the nearly 600-student facility, will discuss the growth of the Christian education institution.
