Fun and safety events for children and families this Saturday at Wellsville and other locations

Family Fun and the Spring National Prescription Drug Take Back days are among many fun and safety activities this weekend in Wellsville, with others in various parts of Allegany County.

Allegany Hope will be joining several other community organizations at Family Fun Day from 10AM to 2PM at the American Legion at 23 Jefferson Street with information on how parents and caregivers can access hundreds of free, wholesome online videos for children and families.

There will be games; giveaways including reusable grocery bags, COVID test kits, thermometers, dental kits, and bike helmets; child passenger safety checks for vehicles; Help Me Grow development screenings which will include a $25 gift card for participating families; a multitude of resources from more than a dozen organizations; a costumed dinosaur which will be available for pictures with children; and more.

During the same times, The Allegany County Sheriff’s Office is hosting its biannual Prescription Drug Take Back Day at both the Wellsville Fire Department at 40 South Main Street and the Friendship Fire Department, 7 Depot Street.

Individuals can dispose of their unused prescription drugs safely, with no questions asked, and keep them out of the hands of drug users, children and public water supplies during this drive-through event.

There also is a multi-school student art show in Wellsville, both a rabies clinic and an electronics waste and television collection at Belmont, and additional activities being added as they are received.

Our reports on free and primarily-free events for individuals and families throughout Allegany County and beyond are available on this website and on our exclusive Community Calendar at https://bit.ly/3AzhV9C, or through the link at the top of this page.
