High temperatures and showers today, with excessive rain possible Tuesday

Temperatures around 80 today, with some showers and thunderstorms, are expected to give way to a slow moving cold front which is projected to cross the region Tuesday, generating fairly widespread showers and a few thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening hours, some of which could produce locally heavy rainfall.

The National Weather Service (NWS) Weather Prediction Center (WPC) has issued an alert for a Marginal Risk of excessive rain tomorrow, with the NWS at Binghamton also forecasting potential for gusty winds from Steuben County east, with “a few spots of urban or small stream flooding” not being ruled out.
