Mixed weather conditions, alerts for Western and Central New York and Northwestern Pennsylvania

BREAKING: A mosaic of weather projections have appeared across Western and Central New York and Northwestern Pennsylvania this morning with WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES to the west of Allegany County and FLOOD WATCHES continuing to the east. Allegany County will experience a little of both, but not to the same alert levels.

A breakdown of current forecasts from three National Weather Service (NWS) forecast centers include:

Allegany and Livingston counties: Rain will change to snow tonight and continue through Tuesday morning. A general one to three inches of accumulation is expected, with the greatest amounts across higher terrain. The combination of accumulating snow and temperatures falling quickly below freezing will result in slippery travel, including the Tuesday morning commute.

Cattaraugus and Wyoming counties: A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 5PM today until 10AM Tuesday, with four-to-seven inches of snow being forecast, particularly in western parts of the county and across higher elevations.

McKean County, Pa.: A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 1PM today through 10AM Tuesday, with one-to-three inches of snow and wind gusts to 40MPH creating slippery conditions and poor visibility. The heaviest snow and greatest travel impacts are expected tonight.

Steuben County: A Flood Watch continues through midnight with excessive water runoffs having potential for flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

Potter County, Pa.: No weather alerts are in effect at this writing, although some snow is forecast.
