EARLY ALERT: A significant winter storm possibility for Thursday and Friday, much colder conditions Friday into Christmas weekend, and strong winds Friday into Saturday are all in the potential scenarios for this week, even while Cattaraugus and Wyoming counties west currently are coping with a LAKE EFFECT SNOW WARNING through early Monday afternoon.
The US National Weather Service Buffalo NY has issued the forecasts, with the NOAA NWS Weather Prediction Center, which provided the temperature prediction map for Saturday that accompanies this story reporting:
“A frigid Arctic air mass will plunge southward throughout this week, bringing dangerously cold temps & wind chills across the Central & Eastern U.S. As you finish your holiday shopping, take action to protect yourself from the cold.”
