Multiple Allegany County organizations to receive state arts and culture funds

Several different Allegany County organizations and an individual artist will receive $28,554 in state funds for arts and culture activities in several communities this year.

Jacqueline Swaby, executive director of the Arts Council for Wyoming County, and Linda Franke, its grants and educational outreach coordinator, announced the awards during a county awards gathering at The Fountan Arts Center in Belmont.

The Wyoming County group administers the New York State Council for the Arts Community Regrants program for an area which includes Allegany County, providing funding for arts and culture efforts.

A variety of programming include summer music programs; a theatre production; art lessons in calligraphy, abstract design, and perspective; a touring art exhibition; experimentation with virtual technology; dance performances; cultural and historical presentations; and music education and orchestra performances.
