National Weather Service urges awareness of wind chill impacts

The National Weather Service notes the dangerous effects of wind chills as temperatures drop this afternoon and tonight with passage of a cold front moving through the area from the west late this morning and wind gusts continuing through daylight hours Thursday.

As we reported a short time ago, winds are expected to peak near 40MPH at times this morning with gusts between 45MPH and 50MPH in the eastern part of Allegany County, NY, and in the 30MPH range for the rest of the wind event, which includes a WIND ADVISORY,

Wind chill temperatures are expected to be a dozen degrees colder this afternoon, reaching the low double digits overnight.
