New ministries for women and singers starting this week in Friendship

Two new ministry opportunities will get underway this week for Friendship area women and those who like to sing.

A newly re-formed Just Do It! ministry will be opening its doors to women throughout the area Wednesday, October 11, with a noon to 1:30PM light lunch followed by a first-hand account of past trips to smuggle Bibles into the island of Cuba through Voice of the Martyrs, an organization which raises awareness of persecuted Christians in countries hostile to the faith.

The group will meet the second Wednesday of each month at The Carter House Ministry Center, 37 East Main Street, under auspices of the United Church of Friendship, and seeks to raise awareness about what God is doing through churches around the world and also will explore ways to aid individuals in need in the Friendship area.

Further information is available at or (585) 808-1300.

On Saturday, October 14, the Followers of the Way – Nile Community Church will host a 1PM gathering of area residents who like to sing to create a Friendship Community Singers group.

Anyone interested in singing is invited to the church at 4094 State Route 275 for the initial gathering of any who would like to practice and offer musical presentations to area churches and other venues in the community in the months ahead.

Two weeks later, on Saturday, October 28, the church will be holding a Community Hymn Sing at 11:30AM, followed by a free light lunch for the community at 1PM. Music will be able to be selected from two different hymnals.

The church’s regular Saturday Sabbath service will be moved from 11AM to 10AM on that day to allow for the hymn sing, with the time for its regular Community Dinner on the last Saturday of every month, which normally is after that service, being adjusted to follow the time of music,

Further information about both Nile church activities is available from Pastor Kevin Palmiter at or (585) 259-2989.
