Pop-Up Pantry food distribution canceled today for second straight time due to weather

The free Pop-Up Pantry (PUP) food distribution today in Scio has been canceled due to heavy rain and severe weather possibilities which we have reported on earlier. The last PUP, scheduled at Angelica, also was curtailed due to a bad weather forecast.

The ACCORD ACCESS Center, which coordinates the twice-a-month activity in different parts of the county, will be open today to provide food boxes at its 84 Schuyler Street (State Route 19) location in Belmont from 9AM to 3PM, with a half-hour lunch break starting at noon.

Mandatory online registrations for a Wednesday, July 24, PUP distribution, occurring at the Bolivar Middle-High School at 100 School Street, start at 7AM Monday, July 22.

Online registrations for the distributions, occur on the Monday prior to the twice-a-month Wednesdays distributions, and are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Unlike traditional food distribution programs, PUP events have no income restrictions.

PUP online registration forms are described as operating like sales tickets, allowing up to five food box registrations per driver or pickup person in a single transaction. If the driver or pickup person is also registering for a food box, they must be included in the ticket quantity for the selected pickup time.
