Several Allegany County road closures start tomorrow, Hume bridge project meeting later in July

Allegany County roads in the towns of Amity, Independence and Scio will see closures at different times in July, starting tomorrow, with the Department of Public Works also to hold a public information meeting later this month in regard to a bridge rehabilitation project in the Town of Hume.

The projects are:

Amity – County Road 31A (Corbin Hill Road), from the Back River Road to Eymer roads, will be closed from Monday, July 8, through Thursday, July 11, to replace a culvert pipe.

Scio – County Road 9 (Knights Creek Road), from Snowball Hollow to Morgan Hill roads, will be closed from approximately 8AM until 4PM on Monday, July 15, also to replace a culvert pipe.

Independence – County Road 19, from State Route 248 at Whitesville to County Road 19A (Whitesville Whites Corners Road), will be closed from approximately 8AM until 4 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16, to install a temporary detour bridge.

There will no on-site detours at any of the three sites, with motorists urged to seek alternate routes.

Hume – The public information meeting will be held at 7PM, Wednesday, July 24, at the Town of Hume Museum, 10842 Claybed Road.

Rehabilitation of the bridge on County Road 4 (East Main Street), over the Genesee River, immediately east of the intersection of East and West Main and North and South Genesee streets, will be discussed, with county public works and design consultant personnel being available to answer questions about the project.

State Department of Transportation representatives also are scheduled to attend the session.
