Rooted public spiritual revival services are scheduled next week at Houghton University

Rooted, a three-day series of public spiritual revival services, will be held next week at Houghton University.

The four free campus sessions will be held in the John and Charles Wesley Chapel at 1 Willard Avenue at 7PM Thursday and Friday, September 15 and 16, at 11:10AM Friday as the regular campus chapel service, and 1PM Saturday, September 17.

The educational institution has experienced at least two recorded Christian revivals and community transformations in February 1942 and October 1951 which not only impacted college students and staff members but spread to churches and communities throughout the region and as far away as Buffalo and Philadelphia.

Pierre duPlessis, lead pastor at The Father’s House in Rochester, described as a “pioneering leader with a dream of an authentic, adventurous community of Christ followers, who would engage disconnected people with the true message and genuine expression of God’s love,” will be the speaker at the events.

The University characterizes him as “a visionary, a worshiper, fun to be around, totally committed to the cause, and passionate about his family. His no-holds-barred communication style brings relevance to every message.”

Jen and Taylor Wilding, 2014 Houghton graduates, will lead praise and worship song throughout the three days.

Taylor Wilding currently is discipleship director and campus worship leader at Trinity Wesleyan Church in Indiana after having served previously as the worship director at Victory Highway Wesleyan Church in Painted Post, N.Y.

Houghton President Wayne D. Lewis, Jr., is inviting the public to attend one or all of the sessions.
