Salvation Army and ACCORD set holidays assistance registration dates

Allegany County, NY‘s primary county-wide holidays assistance providers for children and families have set registration periods in two weeks for this year’s distribution.

The Wellsville Salvation Army – Wellsville, NY, will receive applications from Monday through Thursday, October 10 to 13, and ACCORD Corporation in Belmont from October 10 to Monday, October 17. Services cannot be duplicated.

Salvation Army assistance
The Salvation Army’s assistance will be for Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets and Christmas toys for ages 12-and-under.

Registration is available from 5PM to 7PM Monday and Tuesday, October 10 and 11, and 10AM to noon on Wednesday and Thursday, October 12 and 13 at its headquarters at 23 East Pearl Street in Wellsville.

Individuals must provide a photo ID, a piece of mail demonstrating Allegany County residency, proof of birth dates of all family members in the household, and primary placement papers, if applicable.

ACCORD assistance
ACCORD will provide gifts for the first 300 children up to and including 18 years of age, with gifts for eligible children up to nine years old and $50 value gift cards for ages 10-to-18.

Services will be provided only for residents of communities without holiday assistance programs.

Applicants must call (585) 440-0271, starting at 8AM Monday, October 10, and ending at 8AM Monday, October 17, for the first-come, first-served opportunity.

The first 300 recipients will receive a callback to set up a time to fill out an in-person application which will require copies of current household income.

Local programs are available in the Alfred-Almond Central School District, Andover Central School, Belfast Central School, Canaseraga Central School, Cuba-Rushford Central School, Fillmore Central School, Friendship Central School, Scio Central School – Home of the Tigers, and Catholic Charities in Wellsville for only the holidays food component in the Wellsville Central School District.
