Severe thunderstorm potential Saturday with excessive rain possible Monday

EARLY ALERT: The National Weather Service (NWS) is alerting to the potential for severe thunderstorms tomorrow afternoon, along with heavy rainfall on Memorial Day which “could lead to ponding and isolated flash flooding” in Allegany and surrounding counties.

The first Marginal Risk forecast comes from the NWS Storm Prediction Center, with isolated strong to severe storms possible Saturday afternoon and evening, with the main threats being damaging wind gusts and large hail.

On Monday, the NWS Weather Prediction Center is showing the excessive rain potential, with the heaviest precipitation possibilities being forecast for the afternoon.

Sunny skies currently are predicted for Sunday in Allegany County, with daily temperatures throughout the weekend period topping out between 75 and 80 degrees.
