
EARLY ALERT: Slippery conditions are possible overnight tonight and into Friday morning for Allegany County north and west, with strong to severe thunderstorms, gusty winds and small hail potential over the border in McKean County, Pa., west late tonight into the pre-dawn hours tomorrow.
The National Weather Service (NWS) at Buffalo says timing is uncertain as to how long wintry mix conditions will exist Friday morning as today’s rain, starting primarily this afternoon, changes over to snow during the morning hours tomorrow.
Temperatures are forecast to warm Saturday with sunny skies, followed by clouds on Sunday, and weekend temperature highs in the 40s.
Wind gusts yesterday reached 49MPH at 2PM at the Wellsville Airport, among the highest yesterday in the Western New York forecast area, with 45 in Grove and 40 in Belmont in late afternoon.
Delvan in Cattaraugus County hit 52MPH during the day, with 52MPH at the Buffalo, 49 at Rochester, 43 at Warsaw and 41 at the Dansville airports.
