WEATHER ALERT: A WINTER STORM WATCH has been issued for Steuben County east and Pennsylvania counties to the south and southwest of Allegany County from late tomorrow night through Friday afternoon, depending on the south to north location.
A major portion of Allegany County also is forecast to receive four-to-six inches of snow, as shown on the map accompanying this story, some 0.05-inch of ice, and wind gust nearing 40MPH during Thursday.
The US National Weather Service Buffalo NY is also alerting to potential lake effect show over the weekend, as we reported yesterday: “Confidence is continuing to grow that there will be a round of significant lake effect snow off both Lake Erie and Lake Ontario this weekend. The more impactful snowfall will likely be focused from the Buffalo southtowns into the western Southern Tier and across the Tug Hill region.”
Changing conditions possible
Conditions could change, however, as Winter Storm Diaz, which is causing blizzard conditions in the U.S. Plains moves east.
Therefore, Be Aware. Be Prepared. Stay Safe.TM and continue to monitor as storms approach the area.
Further information for these varying weather conditions is available at www.weather.gov/buf for the NWS Buffalo forecast region, www.weather.gov/bgm for Steuben and counties to the east, and www.weather.gov/ctp for adjoining Pennsylvania counties.
