Snow, sleet and freezing rain underway throughout the region today

STORM UPDATE: A WINTER STORM WATCH in Steuben County and Potter County, Pa., east has been upgraded to a WINTER STORM WARNING, while a WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY for Allegany County southwest to northeast continues until at least 7PM tonight.

A WINTER STORM WATCH also is in effect from Friday through Tuesday evenings for Cattaraugus and Wyoming counties west due to lake effect snow potentials.

Snow, sleet or freezing rain will result in slippery roads and limited visibilities today, according to the US National Weather Service Buffalo NY, which advises to “slow down and use caution while driving,” which includes potentially hazardous conditions during morning and afternoon commutes.

The NWS also reports possibilities for downed trees and tree limbs due to a mixture of heavy, wet snow combined with wind gusts up to the 50MPH range, depending on locations.
