Suicide prevention training being conducted online

Individuals will be able to learn about Veteran-specific suicide risk factors and prevention strategies Tuesday morning online.

Representatives of the U.S. Veterans Administration (VA) will present a free session from 10AM to 11:30 AM, November 8, of Operation S.A.V.E., many principles of which are applicable to the general population.

The presentation will include a brief overview of suicide in the Veteran population, suicide myths and misinformation, risk factors for suicide, components of the S.A.V.E. model involving signs of suicide, asking about suicide, validating feelings, encouraging help and expediting treatment.

Veteran resources also will be presented.
