Top seniors named for Belfast graduating class

Justin Hill and Canaan Sullivan have been designated as the valedictorian and salutatorian of the 2023 senior class at Belfast Central School.

Hill, son of Brian and Adrienne Hill, is graduating with a cumulative grade point average of 96.25 and also has earned 25 college credits while in high school.

Sullivan, son of Aaron and Sunshine Sullivan, will graduate with 22 college credits.

The valedictorian is a member of the National Honor Society and had the co-high Regents score last year on the Algebra II Regents.

He has been active in sports, playing soccer for four years and basketball and baseball for three, along with joining the golf team as a senior. He also served as a U8 summer soccer coach last year.

Hill plans on attending Alfred State College, majoring in electrical engineering.

Sullivan also is a member of the National Honor Society, including service as its president this year. He has been a class treasurer, along with serving as a student council representative for two years.

During high school, the salutatorian has played soccer for four years and volleyball for two, also volunteering as a U8 summer soccer coach last summer.

He is a member of the Houghton Wesleyan Church youth group and next year plans to attend George Fox University in Oregon, majoring in civil engineering.
