BREAKING: A TORNADO WATCH has been issued until 9PM Saturday for Allegany and all adjoining counties, other than Wyoming, in New York and Pennsylvania.
The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Okla., issues a Tornado Watch when weather conditions in an area indicate an increased risk for severe weather that may be capable of producing a tornado. The NWS issues a Tornado Warning when a tornado has been sighted or indicated by weather radar.
A Warning means that shelter should be taken immediately.
At 2PM, Doppler radar was showing the first of two waves of possible storms moving east through Cattaraugus County.
As we reported earlier this week, six tornadoes were recorded during a several hours period in New York State, from Broome County in the Southern Tier to Lewis County in the North Country.
Further information on today’s weather conditions, including storm tracking resources, are available in our earlier weather post today.
