Traditional Trick or Treating turning to Trunk or Treat, Harvest Festivals and Block Parties

Halloween Trick or Treating and some of the associated mischief are being downplayed in some Allegany County communities this week by churches and other organizations turning to harvest festivals and Trunk or Treat events for children.

Some of the activities we have been able to identify include:

Thursday, October 27
6PM-8PMWellsville YMCA, Riverwalk Plaza, 133 Bolivar Road (Route 417 West) and Crosstown Alliance Church, 450 North Highland Avenue, will coordinate activities with a connecting lighted walkway between the two locations. Trunk or Treat candy and snacks giveaways will be at both locations, with costumed characters also found at the church.

Saturday, October 29
10AM-1PMHoughton Wesleyan Church, 9712 State Route 19 in the hamlet, will host a Harvest Festival with crafts, snacks, prizes, hayrides, animals and a chili cookoff.

1PM-4PM — The Allegany County Deputy Sheriff’s Association will host a multi-agency Trunk or Treat at the County Office Building parking lot, 7 Court Street, Belmont, with candy giveaways and drawings for 20-inch bicycles.

5:30PM-7PMNorth Park Wesleyan Church, 32 Spring Street, Cuba, will host a Halloween Party for families of pre-schoolers through fifth grade children, with a spooky maze, balloon room, costume contest, crafts, hayrides and snacks.

Sunday, October 30
4PM-6PMAlfred-Almond Bible Church, 6751 State Route 21, Almond, will provide a Trunk or Treat event, to include food, games and other activities.

Monday, October 31
5PM-7PM — The Wellsville Salvation Army – Wellsville, NY, with assistance from area churches, will conduct a Block Party on East Pearl Street, to include a bounce house, games, food and candy.
