Trout season opens today across New York State

Fishermen were on the Route 19-Genesee River dam at Belmont today for the April 1 opening of trout season.

Anglers hit New York State’s streams and rivers today for the traditional April 1 opening of trout season.

As a bonus, State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) trout stocking began in March and will include placement of more than 9.1 million catchable size brook, brown, and rainbow trout in streams and ponds across the state by early June.
