Two free public concerts scheduled this week at Houghton University

The Houghton University Chamber Choir and a United States Air Force Heritage Winds group will provide free back-to-back concerts for the public this week.

The University group will perform Christ With Me, a concert postponed from two weeks ago, from 6:30PM to 7:30PM Wednesday, February 21, in the Atrium of the Center for the Arts, 1 Willard Avenue, Houghton.

Heritage Winds, a component of the United States Air Force Heritage of America Band, will perform from 7:30PM to 9PM Thursday in the Wesley Chapel as part of a musical tour of college campuses across Upstate New York.

The Hampton, Virginia-based group, is comprised of professional airmen who use the power of music to honor the nation’s veterans, inspire patriotism, communicate the Air Force story, and recruit those who are interested in serving the nation.

The musicians embrace the full range of the woodwind ensemble repertoire, to include classics by composers such as Paul Taffanel and Carl Nielsen, and extending to more contemporary works by 21st century composers.

The appearance is part of a four-session Artists Series being provided for the public during the current academic year.

The campus dining hall is open to the public from 5PM to 7:30PM on both evenings, with further information and menus at https://bit.ly/3eXXhr4.
