The link between the Jewish feast of Passover and the last supper Jesus shared with His disciples will be presented Sunday as a representative of the international Jews for Jesus provides insights at Wellsville into the relationship between the Jewish holiday and Easter.
Organization representative Stewart Weinisch, will provide an overview of Christ in the Passover during an appearance at the Wellsville Bible Church at 2908 Andover Road (State Route 417 East) as part of a series of activities.
At the church’s 9:30AM morning service, Weinisch will present an explanation of the symbolism of the Jewish Passover ceremony called a seder, weaving the story of the exodus and freedom from slavery together with the messianic hope realized in Jesus’ life, death and resurrection.
“The words ‘do this in remembrance of me’ will take on an even deeper meaning to Christians as we learn the significance of the tradition Jesus observed the night before He died and give us a closer look at the very Jewish life He led.” according to Pastor Dan Kenyon.
During the 11AM Sunday School hour, Weinisch will discuss how the Springs Feasts of Israel prefigure Palm Sunday, Passover and the Resurrection of Jesus.
A light luncheon will start at 12:30PM, followed by a full Passover Seder which commemorates the Hebrews’ liberation from slavery in Egypt and how the Israelites were “passed over” and saved from the deaths of all the other firstborns in the country.
“Jewish or not, religious or not, all are welcome for this unforgettable, thought-provoking experience,” according to Kenyon.
There is no charge for the event, with a free-will offering being taken.
