The Wellsville Area Chamber of Commerce, along with others representing businesses throughout the nation, are noting that the next two months are an important time to support small retailers and other businesses throughout the area.
The federal U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) reports that small businesses, defined as those having less than 500 employees, account for 99.9 percent of all US businesses.
Unfortunately, according the the SBA, only 30% of these just break even and another 30% will begin losing money at some point.
This leads to empty storefronts, deteriorating main streets, and reductions in economic activity and employment in an area.
