Weekend Easter Egg Hunts may mix with adverse weather Saturday

Several Easter Egg Hunts are on the schedule for this weekend in Allegany County, with those into Saturday afternoon potentially mixing with snow, sleet and freezing rain.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 2PM tomorrow as temperatures hover around freezing, although impacts generally appear to be greater in the central and northern parts of the county, as we have reported earlier.

Event attendees may want to monitor websites and Facebook pages for any changes at host sites on Saturday, which include:

  • 9AM – Rushford Fire Department, 8911 Upper Street. Easter Bunny also will be present for photos. Further information is available at (585) 437-2522.

  • 10AM-12:45PM – David A. Howe Public Library, 155 North Main Street, Wellsville, in coordination with the Wellsville YMCA and Wellsville Rotary Club, will hold an Easter Egg Hunt for ages 10-and-under and a Trivia Egg Hunt for ages 11-to-18, with the Rotary providing free books afterward.

    This will be followed by a family movie, Wallace & Gromit and the Curse of the Were-Rabbit, at 11:30AM.

  • 11AM – Manor Hills Assisted Living, side lawn, 4192-B Bolivar Road (State Route 417 West), Wellsville. For children ages zero-to-10, with the Easter Bunny being present for photos. Further information is available at (585) 593-9800.

  • 1PM – Moore Memorial Pool, South Main Street and Prospect Street, Bolivar. For toddlers through fifth grade, with prizes, and the Easter Bunny being present for photos. The event, hosted by the Bolivar Community Improvement Club, will be postponed until Saturday, March 30, in event of rain.

Sunday, March 24, which is forecast to be sunny, will include:

  • Noon-4PM – Centerville Memorial Fire Department, 8936 County Road 3. An Easter egg hunt will be held for children 11-and-under, a scavenger hunt for kids 12-and-over, along with a craft and vendor show.

  • 2PM – Clarksville Volunteer Fire Company, will host an Easter Egg Hunt for multiple age groups at the Clayton Burger Memorial Fireman’s Park, 2999 Portville Road (State Route 305).

  • 2PM-4PM – Alfred-Almond Bible Church Spring Eggstravaganza, 6751 State Route 21, Almond.

    Children ages two-to-12 and their families can participate in an egg hunt, including a short story about the origin of Easter, starting at 2PM, along with “eggciting snacks and eggstrodinary fun and games”.

    Prize baskets will be given to a dozen children, with other activities including carnival games, springtime treats, ‘Bingo”, and more. There also will be door prizes for parents.

  • 10AM – North Park Wesleyan Church, 32 Spring Street, Cuba, for age-specific Easter Egg Hunts with over 200 prizes, crafts, a bounce house, and more. Further information is at (585) 968-2347.
