Wind gusts to 50MPH possible tomorrow afternoon into Friday morning

WEATHER ALERT: A WIND ADVISORY has been issued for Allegany County and most of Western and Central New York for tomorrow afternoon into Friday.

The alert is in effect from 4PM Thursday through 7AM Friday in Allegany County and until noon Friday for Steuben County east, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

Winds of 25-to-35MPH are projected during this time frame, with gusts approaching 50MPH, peaking during the midnight period in the center portion of the county. Winds are expected to be slightly less to the east.

Some alternating snow and rain also are forecast during the afternoon and nighttime hours tomorrow and into Friday.

Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects, according to forecasters, with tree limbs potentially coming down, accompanied by a few isolated power outages.

Travel in high profile vehicles may be difficult, they say.
