BREAKING WEATHER ALERT: Some areas of Allegany County may experience patchy frost tonight as temperatures dip around freezing, with FREEZE WARNINGS being posted this afternoon over the border in Pennsylvania counties and a FROST ADVISORY for Wyoming County west.

Although local conditions currently aren’t bringing either official alert designations from the National Weather Service (NWS) at Buffalo, the forecast does provide for the possibility of frost in parts of Allegany County, particularly in sheltered valley areas, after 2AM and through 9AM Tuesday as the effects of today’s passing cold front results in wind chills near freezing.
Temperatures then are expected to warm to slightly to above normal temperatures for the remainder of the week, although for Northern Pennsylvania, NWS forecasters at State College report the cold is likely to stay around for Tuesday night into Wednesday.
Frost could harm sensitive outdoor vegetation and plants may be killed if left uncovered, the NWS notes.
