Free Family Day Saturday for first responders and associated professions and families

Allegany County first responders and a broad group of associated professions and their families will have a free opportunity for fun and relaxation Saturday.

A First Responder and Helping Professions Family Day will be held from 11AM to 5PM, September 19, at the Wellsville Elks Lodge at 77 East Pearl Street.

The Allegany County Sheriff’s Office and Department of Social Services (DSS) wellness teams will be hosting first responders and a broad range of other helping professionals and their families, including veterans, DSS employees, healthcare workers, human service professionals, teachers and other associated occupations for free food, live music, a bounce house, cornhole tournament, face painting, giveaways, a kayak raffle, and a 50/50 drawing, with wellness vendors also providing resources and information.

Family Day was created to recognize not only those who serve but also the families who support them, according to organizers, who note that “strong family connections and support systems are essential to resilience, wellness, and long-term success.”

They say the event is designed to provide an opportunity “to relax, reconnect, and spend quality time together while building relationships with others who understand the unique demands of public service.”
